QUEENSBURY — A Queensbury man disrupted shoppers at Aviation Mall on Black Friday when he allegedly mistook the Earth's moon for a Death Star-like alien satellite.

The man — who mall security reported was running amok near the J.C. Penny's entrance, screaming, “We're all going to die!”— didn't realize the moon has highly reflective qualities and that depending upon its position in the sky can sometimes be visible during daylight hours.

Brian Orson Granger, who at the time of the incident was shopping for low-quality clothing with his youngest son, Jason, said he tried his best to calm the man down.

“I told him it was just the moon and not an Intergalactic super-weapon capable of destroying a planet with one shot of its super laser. But he didn't believe me.”

Granger said the man became totally unhinged, ranting, “If that's the moon we're in even worse trouble.”

When mall security failed to subdue the man, real police officers had to be called. The individual was later admitted to Glens Falls Hospital for psychiatric evaluation.
