COLONIE – It’s holiday season in the Capital Region, which has area residents buzzing with the Christmas spirit.

But for Kris Kringle, 38, of Sleigh Bell Lane in Colonie, the holidays are anything but merry.

"Every year, it's the same old crap," says Kringle. "Kids call my house non-stop asking, 'Can you say ‘Hi' to Rudolph for me?' or 'I've been good this year, can you bring me an Xbox?' It's friggin' ridiculous."

Kringle, who is of Norwegian decent, blames his mother, Tanta Kringle, and father, Burgermeister Meisterberger Kringle, for his moniker.

"Of all the names they could have picked, for the life of me I don't know why they went with Kris," he said. "When your effing last name is Kringle, how do you name your only son, 'Kris?’"

Kringle emphasized he won't be "comin' to town" for Christmas this year; at least not locally. He instead plans to spend Christmas with his red-haired wife, Jessica, putting one-foot-in-front-of-the-other on a beach in Florida.

“I'm going to get as far away from Christmas as possible," he said. “As far as I’m concerned, this will be a year without a Santa Claus.”

Asked if he had a message for the local residents who continuously call his home, Kringle responded: "I'm not Santa Claus, you idiots; I'm just Kris Kringle."
