WATERVLIET — An ISIS sympathizer from Watervliet has been kicked out of the terror organization for refusing to drive a Toyota pickup.
Clem Barker — who also goes by the name Mohammed Assad Ahchachacha – returned Tuesday from the Middle East after being expelled from ISIS for insubordination.
Barker’s expulsion comes at a time when the U.S. government has launched a probe into how the Islamic State got its hands on hundreds of new Toyota pickups. Officials with the Japanese automaker say they are just as perplexed as the Feds, claiming none of their Iraqi dealerships have sold vehicles to terrorists.
Meanwhile, though Barker’s dreams of jihad have now been dashed, the Watervliet man said he’s happy his principles remain “uncompromised.”
“I ain’t driving a Japanese car, no way no how,” said Barker. “I don’t drive anything that’s not American made. Plain and simple.”
Told that his desire to protect U.S. jobs contradicted his jihadist sympathies, Barker vehemently disagreed.
“Apples and oranges,” he said. “My penchant for murder and mayhem does not in any way diminish my hope for a strong middle class.”
ISIS spokesman Ali-Ali Oxenfree said the organization stands by its decision to expel Barker.
“His views are a little bit too radical for us. He’s really kind of a weird guy.”
