CLIFTON PARK – Hannaford on Clifton Country Road will be the venue for the April 6 Republican presidential primary, the company announced on its website yesterday.

“Join Hannaford on Wednesday, April 6, for $2-off any deli sandwich and a live presidential debate,” the website says.

“We aren’t taking sides on the politics,” clarified Hannaford store manager Tim McGraw. “They called up and explained that they were having problems finding locations and asked if we could help. We considered it our civic duty to oblige.”

The debate is expected to take place in the produce section, between the banana table and the packaged nut stand. Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and John Kasich are all expected to participate.

Republican Party Chairman Reince Priebus explained the move was required because his party has “way over scheduled” debates this election cycle and has now simply “run out of venues.”

“It seems like we are holding two or three debates a night,” Priebus said. “I don’t know why we planned so many of these damn things. We’ve been to all the regular locations already — colleges, arenas, convention centers — and frankly, we are tapped out. So now we are considering any viable alternative, such as supermarkets, Laundromats, and fast-casual restaurants. We’re desperate.”

Priebus said they are “delighted” Hannaford has agreed to host the upcoming debate. He also confirmed that Hoffman’s Car Wash on Route 9 in Latham is in the running to hold a debate next month.

The Hannaford debate will start at 8:00 pm on April 6. Regular store customers are being advised to “watch out for all the Republicans” in the produce department.
